MQ: You've recently started a missions project. Can you tell us a little more about that?

Chrissy: We've been doing missions for a long time now in ZOEgirl. We've gone with Brio magazine and Big World ventures before, but we felt really called to put on our own missions trip. So, we decided to start ZOEgirl missions. ZOEgirl visits an orphanage in Quito EcuadorWe went last year to Quito, Ecuador. We brought about 50 people with us. It was really amazing. We did all kinds of work projects - street ministry with dramas, we visited orphanages, we did painting and shoveling - you name it. We pretty much did it all. And at the end of the week, we also held this big concert downtown in one of the big parks there. We basically did a show and had an interpreter there that presented the Gospel. It was neat because we got to see - they're very open down there to just stopping and watching whatever's going on - and a lot of people came to Christ that day - just because of the concert. It was really a neat experience - so much that we decided to go back again, to Quito this summer. So we're going to do the same thing.

MQ: What would you say to someone who sees the ad in a magazine or reads about ZOEgirl missions and is wavering and wondering if this is something they should do?

Alisa: I would say that - if you're wavering on it - honestly to be totally honest, everytime that we go, for some reason we're always really tired - just when we get ready to go. We've just gotten off of a tour or just finished something that's been such a labor. And we always feel like, "Man, I know this is going to be great, but I just don't feel like going." But then the minute we get there, our hearts totally change because God does so much. And we actually find ourselves getting completely rejuvenated, and re-infused with joy and excitement and all kinds of life from being there. Where we thought it would drain us, it just fills us up. So, I would just encourage you - if you're thinking about it - pray about it. If you're led to go, do it, because it really will change your life and will just fill you back up again.

Kristin: I've actually experienced - I was just thinking as we were talking about that - I think in my life for the first time, a better understanding of when it talks in the Bible about "man shall not live by bread alone" and when it talks about God being our strength. That is the perfect example for me because God has done so much. That has become - because of these trips - those scriptures and what that is saying, has become so real to me. I would hear people and have heard people say that all my life and talk about that, and I never had really made the connection with myself because I guess I had never really felt something like that or have something happen like that with me. But as Alisa was saying about it 'rejuvenating us' and being unsure because we are entering into a different region that you're not familiar with and you feel like, "I don't know what I can do to help anybody else". But I tell you what, God really...He just does so much. It's really beyond our own strength - I don't think it could of been our strength for us to go over there these years - sometimes as tired as we've been - but God really is our strength. You will not be sorry. I have not a doubt that anybody that is considering going, that it will be a very pivotal moment in any persons life that goes on it.

MQ: Where do you guys see yourself in five years?

Alisa: We really try to take it season by season. I can't say exactly what will happen in five years. We just try to be led, season by season with what God wants us to do and when we feel like He is calling us to do something, we throw ourselves into it and do it full bore until we feel He has released us. So, it's hard to say. But we will be seeking Him in five years, about what we're supposed to be doing.

MQ: What are you thankful for - at this point in your lives and careers...?

Chrissy: Well, we're all married, so I know we're all thankful for that.

Alisa: I'm thankful for my family. You know, I'm just really thankful for the companion that God's been to me - just in a lot of the lonely times of my life, a lot of the heartache and the hurt - He's always been there, and is faithful to finish everything and continues to do that in my life. I'm just grateful for that.
