Songs Inspired by 'The Passion of The Christ'
'The Passion of The Christ' - official movie site
Lian Lunson
We recently had the pleasure of sitting down and talking with Lian Lunson about 'The Passion of the Christ' soundtrack which she produced....
MQ: I wanted to ask you about how do you feel being involved with 'The Passion of The Christ' and the soundtrack?
LL: Incredibly privileged. Its a blessing.
MQ: I've been listening to the CD for about a week straight now. Theres such a wide variety of music. Just curious - do you come from a musical background? Do you have any musical family?
LL: You know, I've always been involved somewhat in music. The films I've done always involve music. I'm a huge music fan from all ranges. There is no opera on this record but I'm a big fan of classical to all the way through to country. I'm a big country fan.
MQ: I noticed to there are such names as Dwight Yoakam, Willie Nelson, all impressive artists.
LL: They're all very talented.
MQ: You mentioned about loving music. Was there a certain point in time you decided this was what you wanted to do?
LL: Not consciously. You know you think that the things you love are always the things you're not meant to do. You know? Because you think if you like it that much surely the work is going to be harder.
MQ: Have you been surprised by the strong reactions from the film - both positive and not so positive?
LL: Early on I was surprised by the not so positive because people were making judgements and they hadn't even seen the film. I'm always surprised by - whether its this film or anything - that people would make comments on something they had no knowledge of. That surprises me - the human nature that would make people do that.
MQ: Do you think it would have gotten the same reaction if another director had been involved? Someone different that Mel Gibson?
LL: I think that certainly added a weight to it. That somebody like that would be visible on a project like this. Certainly for people who don't like Jesus being talked about. And the truth is Jesus is more talked about these days than he has been in a long time.
