What should I wear?

Friday, May 9th, 2008

Refuse to wear the flimsy rags that this world wants to adorn you in. You’re worth more that that! Put on Christ! He is what you’re looking for! Don’t sell yourself out for something that doesn’t satisfy.

Here’s what the band ILIA had to say in a recent interview…

We just want to open doors to be able to talk to these kids and tell them that there is hope which is found in Jesus Christ only. You’re not going to find that in a relationship with a guy, you’re not going to find that in dressing scandalous, and you’re not going to find that in getting drunk and cutting yourself. The only person who can fill that void is God.

From God's Word...

Romans 13:11-14

And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.

Our hope is in Christ

Thursday, May 8th, 2008

The gospel is above ALL spiritual - and no life, no hope, no change results from anything other than us being transformed by the power of God. Only God can change our hearts. Only God can give us life. Once that happens, the Holy Spirit will work in us and through us to affect this world for the glory of God and our good. Working towards that change in our own power is worthless - and deception. Here’s a sobering reminder that a social gospel at the expense of a spiritual gospel is a FALSE gospel.

We are starving

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008
Today most men in America are not physically starving. In fact, most Americans are suffocating in the stench of a completely affluent society. But no matter what their philosophic and intellectual system is, men, being made in the image of God, have human hungers that need to be satisfied. To some, the major need is intellectual; they must have answers. So they look into existential philosophy, linguistic analysis, and other non-Christian philosophies. But there is no final answer there. Other people have a deep longing for beauty. So they try to produce beauty out of their own fallenness and self-expression of fallenness. But the final answer is true comfort is not there.

Some hunger for beauty. Some hunger for answers. Still others are hungry for moral realities. Many modern sociologists, for example, are troubled by the lack of a firm basis for moral and social form. How is man to find firm categories to distinguis social good from social evil? They try relativism, the concept of social contract, and various types of totalitarianism, and comfort slips through their fingers.

And many men are hungry for love, for God has made man to love. So our generation has turned to sex as a fulfillment of the need for love in the human heart. But it doesn’t work; sex, separated from humanness, is not love. So man cries out, “I am starving.”

Nothing can take the place of Jesus

Watermark - The Purest Place

WATERMARK - ‘The Glory of Your Name’ (MP3 clip)

And there is nothing in this world
That could take the place of You
That could take the place of You my Jesus
And there is nothing in this life
That could take the place of
One life, one love
One power to save us all
One hope, One truth
And one glory in it all…

The perfect Lamb that was slain
And there’s the glory of Your name
No other one, no other way for me to see
You took my place, You are the way
And there’s the glory of your name
Yes, there’s the glory of Your name
