How much porn is enough?
Friday, March 7th, 2008Have you ever heard of someone dabbling in porn for a short time, reaching a point of satisfaction, then deciding and declaring that it was a helpful thing - and THEN walking away from it?
Neither have I. I should know. I dabbled in it, found myself wanting more, then became addicted to the ‘high’ it offered. But it never seems to satisfy. I can honestly say it’s a beautiful deception.
What does that say about what porn offers us? If porn was instead a product being sold to us with a promise of satisfaction, we’d be demanding our money back. Instead, we continue to buy more, and tell ourselves, “Well, I don’t feel as good as I was hoping I would. I’m still not satisfied. Surely if I try some more, it’ll be better next time.”
