The truth about porn
Here’s what a current porn star has to say about the porn scene:
Drugs are a major, major problem in my business. Anyone who says otherwise is lying to you. I can’t tell you the number of girls who have disappeared and dropped out of the business because of their drug problems (I could list them, but that’s not really important). It is unbelievably sad to think about, and seeing some of them fall into a downward spiral hurts me more than others.
The finished product never shows this side of porn. Porn consumers are seeing a beautiful, cleverly crafted facade painted over a less than attractive, harsher reality.
The reality is that people are being used up and destroyed (spiritually, mentally, and physically) - all for the purpose of the entertainment and self gratification of others.
Do I want to say that I contributed to their demise? Do you? Anytime people consume porn, they fuel the production of more - which continues the deadly cycle. We can choose to believe the beautiful DVD covers, web ads and pages, or the tempting late night cable/satellite TV commercials (and men, if we are honest, we have to admit we’ve been allured by it at one time or another) - but then we’d be ignoring the cries of REAL people! Who said that people are worth nothing more than for the pleasure and entertainment of others? Who said that some people are worthless - and that there is no hope for them? Who said that we should continue to ignore their cries for help and continue to believe the lies of porn?
God cares. His children are priceless in His eyes. Join us as we humbly ask God to open our eyes to the realities of porn - so that we’ll know the truth and not believe the lies of porn (hardcore, softcore, and all the varieties in between). May we see it for what it really is - and see the people caught in its grip as human souls needing to find the freedom and joy that can only be found in Christ.
And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
