God wants to take our pain away

Lacey of Flyleaf

Lacey Mosley is the lead singer of the band FLYLEAF. Here she is in her own words…

“I had a nervous breakdown at 16, planned to kill myself the next day and cut all my hair off. My grandma took one look at me, got very angry and we had a big fight. She was telling me I needed to go to church, and I agreed just so she would stop yelling. I still planned on killing myself the next day.”

The next day was Sunday, and Lacey was at church…

“The preacher came on and started talking about experiences he’d come across in ministering, and it kind of described my whole life. I was shocked, but then he started talking about how Jesus died so he could take our pain away, forgive us from our sins and set us free. He started crying at one point and said he felt a suicidal spirit in the room, I felt like he was talking to me again. It made me want to turn away, but he said, ‘God wants to take your pain away.‘”

After the church service ended, a deacon in the church pulled her aside and told her that she could find comfort in her heavenly father despite her earthly father never being around…

“I never knew my dad, but this really did catch my attention because this man at the church didn’t know me! And the more he kept saying about pain, the more my heart broke into a million pieces. Finally when I was more desperate than I’d ever been, he asked if I wanted to pray, and I said ‘yes.’ I had my head in my hands, and he prayed for God’s peace to come over me. Jesus saved me, and it was the most awesome freedom I’ve ever known.” - Lacey Mosley

Damage from tropical storm Noel

We recently read this update from Mark on the Audio Adrenaline MySpace blog regarding Tropical Storm Noel and the Hands and Feet Project based out of Haiti…

Tropical Storm Noel hit hard throughout the night and still lingers today. Reports from our missionaries at the Hands and Feet Project tell us the damage is devastating. Our beautiful property was turned into a 30 foot wide river, knocking down almost all of our trees and leaving piles of mountain rocks and debris everywhere. The gate leading into our property was ripped off, and a 15 foot section of concrete wall was smashed down. The children were moved from the smaller houses to the main compound and are safe. Our walls are made of concrete block… almost all the “houses” surrounding our village are nothing more than mud, pieces of wood and sheets of metal.

Many of our neighbors not only sustained damage to their homes, but lost livestock and their food supply. We are currently handing out beans and rice to anyone in need. We will be fine at the Hands and Feet Project with getting repairs done, but our biggest concern is taking care of our community. Please consider making a special donation to the Hands and Feet Project during this time of need. Not only will your donation help repair our children’s village, but it will also help us meet the needs of our battered neighbors.

All mail-in contributions can be sent to:

As always, please keep us, our children, and all the people of Haiti and the DR in your prayers!

Thank you.

Delight yourself in the Lord

Wednesday, October 31st, 2007

Psalms 37:4 says, “Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.” So many people just blindly fight their way through this life trying to find a purpose and something that means something to them. They are struggling to get their way through this job that they hate. They are trying to get to the next level where they get to do something that they enjoy. Truth be known, that is a gigantic promise. That is a huge gemstone in scripture, I think. God’s just sitting back and looking at you struggling and fighting. He taps you on the shoulder and says, “If you just turn and look at Me, I’ll give you everything you need.” Not everything you want, but everything you need to be successful and completed. I think in this hustle bustle society where everything is like “dog-eat-dog” world, look out for number one, and needing to have everything right now… God’s just saying, “If you come to me, I’ll give you everything you need.” That’s the kind of scripture I try to stick by. - Vince of JONAH 33
