Critical need in Iraq

Since the beginning of the war in March 2003, the Iraqi people have experienced deadly assaults from insurgents and terrorists. Recently, the United Nations reported that more than four million Iraqis have been displaced as a result of the violence in their country. More than two million people have fled the country to neighboring territories Syria and Jordan. Another two million have been driven from their homes and are living in poverty, having no access to official food distribution programs. The majority of the refugees are from Baghdad and the surrounding districts, and have fled to other regions of the country. There is grave concern about providing basic necessities such as food and shelter for those displaced.
Global Aid Network has been partnering with Christians in Iraq since 2004 to demonstrate the love of God to those in need through the provision of humanitarian aid, which includes the Bags of Blessing outreach.
A Bag of Blessing provides food for a family of 7 for a week. It contains an assortment of food items like 6.5 pounds of rice, 2 large packs of cheese, 6 quarts of milk (powdered), 2 quarts of cooking oil, 6.5 pounds of sugar, 2 cans of tomato paste, and 3 jars of jelly, caster, and mahalabi. All of this is purchased, packaged, and distributed for just $39 per family Bag of Blessing.
