My roots grow deeper
Alathea - ‘My Roots Grow Deeper’

I had my dreams and big ideas
But reality was grounding
I appeared to be a dying tree
with others towering around me
They’d say from on high, what a waste of time
Won’t let that lie define me
You can’t see what’s hiding here beneath the surface
You can’t tell how my heart grows till you unearth it
I may not touch the sky
in my soul I am a seeker
Though I fail most times I try
My roots go deeper.
From God’s Word…

Isaiah 61:3
to grant to those who mourn in Zion–
to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes,
the oil of gladness instead of mourning,
the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit;
that they may be called oaks of righteousness,
the planting of the LORD, that he may be glorified.
Intimate understanding of God leads to obedience, because the believer knows the power and trustworthiness of the One he serves. Obedience—especially during hard times—develops our faith. Eventually, we grow into unshakable “oaks of righteousness”. - Charles Stanley
