Harry Potter - something wicked this way comes

With all the hype around the Harry Potter stories these days, it’s easy to forget that witchcraft is real and not something to dabble with. We recently got this update from the Jesus Film project…

Some areas of Kenya are very demonic. There is much witchcraft and the pressure of other religions and cultures. A film team first prayed, then went to one of these areas, set up their equipment, and threaded “JESUS” in their 16 mm projector. The people were ready, eager to see a motion picture…because it was in their own language. Everything was tested and ready to go. The team started the projector. Early in the first reel, the moment the name of Jesus was spoken, the sound bulb burned out. This is the small light bulb that reads the soundtrack. The team thought little of it. Besides, they had a spare. They changed the bulb and reversed the film back to the beginning.

They started the projector again. Then, at exactly the same spot, when the people would hear the name of Jesus, the sound bulb blew again. The team thought there was something wrong with the projector or generator. They asked the people if they could wait an hour while they drove back to the film team office to get replacement equipment. The crowd was so excited to see “JESUS” that they urged the team, “We will wait. Go and get whatever you need.”

An hour later, the team was back, ready to go. And you guessed it! The same thing happened, at the same spot. Now the team knew something serious was happening. Without another projector or spare sound bulb, the team told the crowd they would have to come back the next night. But the crowd would not allow it, demanding, “No! We want to see it now.” So the team leader picked up the microphone and narrated the whole 2.5 hours. At the conclusion, he gave an invitation to receive Christ and many indicated decisions. It was a real breakthrough. It was then a man in the crowd approached the film team.

“I am ‘the’ witch doctor here. I thought I was going to win. I’m the one who was blowing your bulbs. I have power.” The team replied, “Yes, you may have power. This Jesus has more power.” The witch doctor’s countenance changed. Anger and stress appeared on his face. The team continued, “We are covered in the blood of Jesus. In Him we are more than conquerors.”

Sweat was now pouring down the man’s face as the team kept proclaiming Christ. In great distress, his eyes rolled back. He collapsed, unconscious. Two pastors with the team intervened and began praying for him, invoking the name of Jesus, commanding that he be delivered. The witch doctor awoke, listened to the gospel, and then prayed to receive Christ. At his request, the team escorted him back to his home where they removed all his fetishes and demonic idols, burning them in Jesus’ name.

It turns out he was the most feared witch doctor in the area. When the people heard what had happened they came to his home to see if all they heard was true. Instead of seeing evil on his face, they saw joy and peace. They were amazed at what God had done for him. The small, fledging church took him in. Today he is an elder. And the church has grown to 2,000 in attendance!
