Is design possible by chance?

Thursday, June 28th, 2007

You know, intelligent design is really the subject of a lot of scrutiny these days. But, what is the alternative? Random chance? Is design even possible by chance? If you think about it, the fact that we have a scientific method in the first place is that we believe creation has a design (more than aesthetics) that can be learned about through observation and study.

remedy treasure hunt

Looking ahead to the September 25 release of its fourth studio album, The Remedy, David Crowder Band is sending fans on a treasure hunt for sneak preview details about the new set at seven summer music festivals around the country. No surprise if you know how the eclectic artist works. In an online Myspace post, the MSN 2006 Artist of the Year act writes, “summertime: sunshine, lemonade, music festivals, treasure hunts… we have left something for you, a gift. So, pay careful attention.” Remaining festivals participating in the “search for The Remedy” include Cornerstone (June 27; Bushnell, IL), Creation Northeast (June 28; Mt. Union, PA), Sonshine (July 12; Willmar, MN), Creation Northwest (July 28; George, WA), and Spirit West Coast (August 2; Monterey, CA).

Check out the band’s MySpace page for more clues about how to find the gift at these select festivals, and don’t forget to say, “I have been sent by David Crowder Band for one of the seven remedies.”

IF YOU’VE FOUND ONE OF THE SEVEN REMEDIES, POST YOUR RESULTS HERE!

Greatly Loved

From God's Word
Romans 8:32

He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?

Child of God, do you hesitate to appropriate this title? Ah! Has your unbelief made you forget that you are greatly beloved too? Must you not have been greatly beloved, to have been bought with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot? When God smote His only begotten Son for you, what was this but being greatly beloved? You lived in sin, and rioted in it, must you not have been greatly beloved for God to have borne so patiently with you? You were called by grace and led to a Saviour, and made a child of God and an heir of heaven. All this proves, does it not, a very great and superabounding love? Since that time, whether your path has been rough with troubles, or smooth with mercies, it has been full of proofs that you are a man greatly beloved. If the Lord has chastened you, yet not in anger; if He has made you poor, yet in grace you have been rich. The more unworthy you feel yourself to be, the more evidence have you that nothing but unspeakable love could have led the Lord Jesus to save such a soul as yours. The more demerit you feel, the clearer is the display of the abounding love of God in having chosen you, and called you, and made you an heir of bliss. Now, if there be such love between God and us, let us live in the influence and sweetness of it, and use the privilege of our position. Do not let us approach our Lord as though we were strangers, or as though He were unwilling to hear us - for we are greatly beloved by our loving Father. “He that spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?” Come boldly, O believer, for despite the whisperings of Satan and the doubtings of thine own heart, thou art greatly beloved. Meditate on the exceeding greatness and faithfulness of divine love this evening, and so go to thy bed in peace. - Charles Spurgeon

Vicky Beeching - Painting the Invisible

Vicky Beeching - Suddenly Windows media Real Media

Awaken us to see
The reality of eternity and feel it near
Awaken us to pray
As we watch and wait and anticipate with Holy fear
For the day You’ll return again
Is closer now than it’s ever been …

Suddenly, every eye will see
As You return in glory
Suddenly, every knee will fall
Before heaven’s coming King

Jesus, here we stand, lifting up our hands
Asking You to purify our lives
So on that glorious day
When we stand face to face
Unashamed, we’ll dance in heaven’s light

For the moment is drawing near
When our radiant King will appear …

Inhabited at Spirit West Coast - 2006

Here’s a recent update from Sara of Inhabited

Here I am, sitting at a coffee shop typing words that have been heavy on my heart for quite sometime. For some reason today, they are like a fire that cannot be contained. There is an urgency to send out a warning to all of you to GUARD YOUR MINDS, and realize the destructive power of pornography.

I know I’m not painting a pretty picture, but I know God wrote this message my heart! The fact is that I keep hearing the same stories. A girl confesses she has been sexually abused for years, and could never find the courage to break the silence. A young boy gets taken advantage of, or sucked into pornography by their own father! A wife is devastated when she finds out her husband has been abusing her children.

IF YOU HAVE BEEN SEXUALLY ABUSED, know that though I don’t know your name I prayed for you today. Please go to this link and read true stories from those who have been abused. They want to share how they found hope and spiritual healing. CLICK HERE TO GO TO LINK

Maybe as you read this, whether male or female, you are thinking, “ah, I just look at certain sites, I would never do anything like that.” Let me tell you something! SIN is unmerciful, and the end is destruction and death! I don’t care how glamorous hollywood makes it! Sin kills, steals, and destroys! (John 10:10) It will “take you where you never wanted to go, and keep you longer than you wanted to stay!” Isaiah 44:20 “He feedeth on ashes: a deceived heart hath turned him aside, that he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, Is there not a lie in my right hand?” Sin blinds.

I want this email not only to serve as a warning but also as an encouragement! The warning is that if you are dabbling in pornography, or have been sucked into it, realize this is a serious problem that cannot be overlooked! You may not see it as such and feel you can justify it, but IF YOU DON’T STOP, YOU WILL DESTROY YOUR LIFE AND POSSIBLY THE LIFE OF OTHERS!

The encouraging part is that there is HOPE! We serve a living God who has the power to loose the chains of darkness, and renew the mind! We are all powerless to overcome any sin, but the blood of Jesus will wash away our stains! His power enables us, even when we are the weakest to fight! There is no sin too great that Mercy cannot forgive! There is no mental stronghold too great that the Word cannot renew. We find life changing power when we humble ourselves at the foot of the cross! It may be a journey to freedom, many battles, but victory is possible! THERE IS HOPE!

We serve a God of new beginnings. Start today! Tomorrow never comes. (Romans 8:1)

I will be sending out another email in a week on how to walk in freedom, whether it is this struggle, or any other mental battle that you face from an eating disorder, cutting, bitterness, etc…

I will also include a story that was one of the things that awakened me to how pornograpy is destroying our nation! SARA DELIGHT
