Derek Webb rejoins Caedmon’s Call for upcoming CD and tour

Caedmon's Call with Derek Webb from a 2007 photo shoot...

Here’s the press release from their new record label…

INO Records’ announces the signing of award-winning Christian group, folk-pop sensation Caedmon’s Call. The group will be releasing their 15th project Overdressed on Aug. 28, and features former member-turned-solo singer/songwriter Derek Webb on the project and upcoming tour. “It was definitely a no-brainer to record with Derek again, especially when we [Caedmon’s Call] joined INO, which has been Webb’s label for years,” says Cliff Young. “We all sat down one day and thought ‘I wonder what it would be like to make an album together’.” “We have all grown so much over the past six years, and I know for me [and I’m sure the others] it was a natural process to switch to INO and then have Derek re-join us for this project and upcoming tour. Overdressed is a 12 song cd collection unlike any other Caedmon’s Call record, organically acoustic with emphasis on rhythm while maintaining cleverly-written lyrics. All songs were co-wrote between Andrew Osenga, Randall Goodgame, Derek Webb and Webb’s wife, musician Sandra McCracken. “The title Overdressed comes from lyrics in the song ‘Trouble,’” says Derek Webb. “It talks about how, if I’m honest, all my best attempts at being good are a real mess. Just like the Garden of Eden, I try to cover myself with so many different things. So, when I’m with Him, I feel so overdressed.” Formerly with Essential Records, Caedmon’s Call joined the INO roster of artists in 2007. “I have long been an admirer of Caedmon’s Call rich musical legacy,” says president of INO Records Jeff Moseley. “Now with the addition of Derek Webb for this record, it just feels like a natural fit. I am thrilled they are a part of the INO family and that we can share in the future of Caedmon’s Call.” Caedmon’s Call will head out on a promotional tour in late summer before headlining a Spring tour. These dates will be announced at a later time. To check on all of Caedmon’s Call news, go to www.caedmonscall.com or their fan run site www.caedmonscall.net .

Hope for our future

Wednesday, May 23rd, 2007

I recently visited the California Rehabilitation Center, located in an arid, dusty part of Orange County. Entering the prison yard, I stopped, stared at the drab surroundings, and was struck by a question. Why does the most powerful and richest nation on Earth cast 2.3 million citizens in holes like this? It’s madness.

Evangelist Luis Palau points music, sports heavenward

Tuesday, May 22nd, 2007

International evangelist Luis Palau, from the main stage in a two-day festival in downtown Nashville, nudges his listeners to look heavenward by turning to Jesus Christ.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP)–Some of the most raucous nightclubs in Nashville, Tenn., can be found in four city blocks along the Cumberland River, but those streets were home of another kind of party during the May 19-20 weekend -– a celebration of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

More than 90,000 people crowded into the streets surrounding Nashville’s Riverfront Park for the Luis Palau Festival featuring music, extreme sports and the simple presentation of the Gospel by international evangelist Luis Palau.

More than 100 of the 300-plus Middle Tennessee churches that helped sponsor the festival were Baptist, event organizers said.

“The point of this festival is not the music and the sports or anything else; it is to get all of you ready to go to heaven when God calls you,” Palau said on Sunday evening.

Christian musician Jeremy Camp quotes from Scripture during his time on stage at the Luis Palau Festival in Nashville.

Palau, speaking from the event’s main stage, began his message by talking about award-winning musician Jeremy Camp’s wife, who passed away just a few months into their marriage. Using that story to contemplate heaven, Palau clearly and deliberately shared the Gospel message, telling the festival-goers that they could never earn God’s approval on their own.

“You see, none of us would get into heaven -– not the nicest grandma or mom or dad -– if it wasn’t for the blood of Jesus that he gave on the cross 2,000 years ago,” Palau said.

If there is design, there is purpose

Think about this...

What is ‘Intelligent Design’? Here’s more on the topic…

Nobody in his right mind would ever believe that a dictionary developed because of an explosion in a printing press. Every designed product in the human experience points to a designer.

The design argument is literally as old as the hills. That’s why it does not matter how loudly the skeptic shouts “chance.” The skeptic has not been able to conquer our counter-intuitive certainty—that information assumes a mind. And so the skeptic, filled with contradictions, ends up giving designed arguments to argue against design. How ironic. Now it is important to note what is being said here. We are not just talking about aesthetic design (time plus matter plus chance can possibly explain aesthetic design), what is being discussed here is intelligent design.
