Sylvester Stallone, boxing, faith, and the church
Sunday, November 12th, 2006
I had the opportunity to join in on a conference call for the Rocky movie opening this December.
Mr. Stallone was part of the call. He mentioned how his faith, background have influenced the latest Rocky film.
You can hear part of the audio below. Below are a few ‘rough’ quotes from the audio.
- You think you can do it on your own, but you need help.
- You need a trainer. You need to go to a gym. You cannot train yourself.
- I feel the same way about Christianity. The church is a gym for the soul.
- The priests, the reverends, the pastors are the trainers.
- They take you to places you can’t think you can go.
- Everyone at church is one the same page working in a spirit of oneness.
- You don’t get that going alone. I found that out the hard way. Its just not the same.
- You get out what you put in.
- The more I go to church and have God guide my hand, the pressure is off me now.
- Sylvester Stallone talks about the church being a ‘gym’ for the soul. He says you can’t go it alone. You need a trainer.
