Electing leaders

Sunday, November 5th, 2006

With election time nearing, the question once again is - ‘On what criteria do we elect our local, state, and national leaders?’

Here’s some advice from God’s Word:

From God's Word...

Exodus 18:21

Moreover, look for able men from all the people, men who fear God, who are trustworthy and hate a bribe, and place such men over the people as chiefs of thousands, of hundreds, of fifties, and of tens.

Priorities of life

Sunday, November 5th, 2006

“What often begins as a matter of mild disagreement can easily degenerate into division. Harmless cliques turn into battle-hardened bands, merciless in self-defense and quick to attack those who don’t agree with them. The apostle Paul had to tell the Corinthians that division was at the heart of their problem — not division rising out of trials, but division rising out of comfort, blessing and abundance. Think about those three words: comfort, blessing and abundance. Do those words describe the Church in our time? We have so much; why are we accomplishing so little for Christ with it? While we’re taking good care of ourselves, are we diligent about taking care with Christ’s commands? There’s certainly nothing wrong with comfort, blessing and abundance — unless it changes us into bored believers who turn against one another because we have forgotten that we are under orders to reach the world. Let’s prepare to listen carefully to the warnings from God’s Word about the priorities of life. Let’s rededicate ourselves to seeking His kingdom and His righteousness — and letting other things take care of themselves. And let’s pray for each other as we pursue God’s best!” - Woodrow Kroll, Back to the Bible
