The World As Best As I Remember It, Vol. 2

Rich Mullins - ‘Maker of Noses’ Windows Media

I believe there is a place
where people live in perfect peace
where there is food on every plate
where work is rewarded and rest is sweet
where the color of your skin
won’t get you in or keep you out
where justice reigns and truth finally wins
it’s hard fought war against fear and doubt

and everyone I know wants to go there too
but when I ask them how to do it they seem so confused
do I turn to the left
do I turn to the right
when I turn to the world they just gave me this advice

They said boy just follow your heart
but my heart just lead me into my chest
they said follow your nose
but the direction changed every time I went and turned my head
they said boy you just follow your dreams
but my dreams were only misty notions
but the Father of hearts and the Maker of noses
and the giver of dreams He’s the one I have chosen
and I will follow Him

Get ‘Rewired’

Tuesday, August 29th, 2006

BreakPoint and TeenMania has teamed up to create a DVD curriculum called ‘Rewired’. It’s designed to help kids understand the Biblical worldview and be salt and light instead of letting the false worldview shape them.

Leigh Nash’s BLUE ON BLUE review

Blue on Blue

Leigh Nash’s CD BLUE ON BLUE is a beautiful collection of songs about love, family, and dreams coming true. BLUE ON BLUE was produced by Pierre Machand (Sarah Mclachlan/Rufus Wainwright/the Devlins, etc) and features co-writes with Matt Slocum, Ric Nowels and Ron Aniello among others.

Her beautiful, identifiable voice sings of songs of things of the human experience. Cloud Nine is a song about the kind of love that gives you true joy and strength “when I’m on your mind I’m on cloud nine”. It is both fun and meaningful at the same time. Nash sings in My Idea of Heaven “I never thought I’d get here, I was so far away, I didn’t believe in love, I thought it was just a game that people played”…. “how in GOD’s name, did you find the lonestar’s loneliest girl”.

“Nervous in the Light of Dawn” is a song about basic human desires and longings. “And I wished for guidance, and I wished for peace, and I wished for affection, and I wished for calm, as I lay there nervous in the light of dawn.” The oboe and upbeat piano music in the background make this a soothing and thought provoking offering.

Her songs about love, marriage, and God are refreshing and true. Her lyrics are uniquely catchy. BLUE ON BLUE is my recommendation for the week.

More:

For me the song “Son of God” is a statement of faith…I sometimes struggle to see past the sometimes seemingly fairytale-like story of Jesus on the cross and His redemption of mankind. So it goes a long way for me to speak out the truths that I believe deep down in my soul, but often struggle to grasp.

I begin to pick things apart in my head and overanalyze the Legitimacy of the gospel and whether Jesus really was who He said He was. In this place of doubt and unbelief I often find myself simply praying for a childlike faith and a soul that is willing to take God at His word, believing in the grace that he has extended to me through Jesus.

I know that it is impossible for me to have all the answers while I’m on this earth. But the more I surrender my need for answers and my need for control, the more Jesus becomes real to me. To me, this song is a proclamation that says, “Jesus, I believe that you are God, and I stand here with a sometimes weary faith, but faith enough to believe that you have forgiven me and that you loved me enough to die in my place.”

This conscious decision to speak the truth over my life solidifies my faith and trust in God. This state of surrender is when I’m the most free to worship, and I can honestly sing “Jesus, the Son of God, the shaper of the stars, You are worthy of all my praise” - Jon Neufeld of Starfield
