Barry Lynn comments about the case against IFI

Barry Lynn of Americans United for Separation of Church and State speaks about the recent court victory over Prison Fellowship’s IFI program on the ‘Way of the Master’ radio program.

The interview with Barry starts at the 6 minute mark and lasts about 13 minutes.

He is asked about what he is fighting for and what he believes the gospel is - to which he replies:

“it’s clear that there are alternative ways to know God” (besides Jesus Christ) …

What are those ‘clear’ alternatives to know God other than Jesus? How can a ‘minister of the gospel’ reject the following clear principle in scripture…

From God's word...

John 14:6
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Acts 4:12
Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.

This is not surprising given Lynn’s association with the United Church of Christ and his complete aversion to conservative Christianity. It seems this view is becoming more and more common with those who reject the authority of the Bible. It is only a matter of time before the CBF, the ABC, the PCUSA, and the ECUSA submit statements reflecting this majority belief among their clergy.

After listening to the interview with Barry Lynn, it is now easy to understand his actions. I just saw him on Hannity & Colmes spewing his negativity toward the display of a picture of Jesus. If he is a true minister of the gospel, why does he continually work against all public displays? He evidently does not have enough love and enthusiasm for the gospel or he would be proud of it and want to share it. By his fruit, we can know him and by his own words during the interview, he has revealed himself.
