Don’t forget to pray about the little things

Thursday, June 8th, 2006

“There is NOTHING you can do better than God. You are only making your life more difficult when you live any part of your life apart from God. You are carrying unnecessary burdens when you don’t take everything, even the little things to the Lord in prayer.” - Bill Keller, www.liveprayer.com

G4TV - the least viewed basic cable network in America

Thursday, June 8th, 2006

Per an article posted on tgdaily.com, comes an indication of who isn’t watching this network.

Viacom’s competitor in the cable arena, Comcast, is the owner of the newly semi-redubbed G4TV network, which was originally devoted 100% to video games, but has recently branched out to, shall we say, unique forms of “interactive television,” including repackaged reruns of the original Star Trek series with added graphics that interact with…themselves. Ratings numbers give G4TV the unlucky distinction of being the least viewed basic cable network in America - less than evangelistic channels, less than third-rate shopping channels.

How bad is inflation in Zimbabwe?

Thursday, June 8th, 2006

Do you realize how much you are blessed?

Consider this New York Times article:

How bad is inflation in Zimbabwe? Well, consider this: at a supermarket near the center of this tatterdemalion capital, toilet paper costs $417.

No, not per roll. Four hundred seventeen Zimbabwean dollars is the value of a single two-ply sheet. A roll costs $145,750 — in American currency, about 69 cents.

The price of toilet paper, like everything else here, soars almost daily, spawning jokes about an impending better use for Zimbabwe’s $500 bill, now the smallest in circulation.

Returning to the basics

Thursday, June 8th, 2006

“We can’t grow up in the Christian life until we grow deep. And growing deep means returning to the basics. I’ve noticed a pattern in my forty-plus years of ministry. Everyone who succeeds in the Christian life succeeds in the basics. Everyone who fails has, at some point, let the basics slip. It’s easy to do.

I have found personally that when I’m in His Word and when I’m faithful in prayer (even if it’s five minutes a day), I grow a little deeper. I have discovered that the Christian life is nothing more than the life of Christ — living and growing in my life. When I draw near to God, He draws near to me. It’s wonderful! ” - Chuck Swindoll, Insight For Living Ministries

The Prayer of Jesus : Secrets of Real Intimacy with God

“Our prayers are only as inspired as our intake of Scripture. Scripture feeds meditation, and meditation gives food to our prayers. Meditation on Scripture also allows us to naturally transition into a time of more meaningful prayer.” - Hank Hanegraaff

A tale of two worldviews

Read these two commentaries and note the differences. One believes that government is god. The other believes that God is God.
