Indieheaven awards dustinburke BAND first MOMENTUM scholarship album project

Dayton, OH group, dustinburke Band was awarded Indieheaven’s first MOMENTUM scholarship album project at their annual CIA SUMMIT conference on March 24, 2006. In attendence was Indieheaven president, Keith Mohr, producer of the project, Jim Cooper, and hundreds of independent Christian artists in attendence at Indieheaven’s evening showcase.

Indieheaven president, Keith Mohr states, “When I sensed the Lord leading me to offer a scholarship project to an Indieheaven artist, I immediately thought of Jim Cooper to handle the production. Jim was the producer of the smash hit record, “Glory Defined” for the group Building 429. B-429 was New artist of the year for 2005 and Glory Defined was the fastest rising song to #1 in CCM history. B-429 also happens to be an Indieheaven alumni.

We then started our search for a band who was pursuing passion and excellence in their music mission. We also wanted a band who had a strong work ethic, reaching people often in a live setting. We also wanted the band to be based on Psalm 51:17, which says, A broken and contrite heart God will not despise. We’re after servants who understand it takes hard work, hard faith, dedication, perseverance, passion and excellence to be a success.

dustinburke Band says, “I think the most exciting thing about receiving this scholarship is being a part of something so ground-breaking to the music industry. Never before have two independent entities partnered to be such a force in the industry. It’s awesome to be the first band to sign a deal to stay independent. The fact that we get to record a record with someone of Jim Cooper’s caliber only makes this an even bigger reason for the industry to recognize the impact independent bands like ours will make to the Christian music community.”
