Here are some thoughts on ‘potential awards‘ we’d like to see:

Most overlooked album:
Kara Williamson - ‘Undisguised’

Was this album ‘disguised’ instead? This has to be one of the most overlooked CDs in recent memory. It’s good from the first to the last track - with worship, pop, and rock styles in the mix. There’s even a sample of the old Romantics song ‘Talking in your sleep’ thrown in for good measure. It’s a shame more people didn’t get a chance to hear this very good album.

Best breakout album:
Everlife - (self-titled)

These 3 sisters hit the ground running with a pop-rock sound that deserved to be heard more than just by Radio Disney listeners who knew a good thing when they heard it when they burned up the phone lines and internet connections requesting their music. The folks at Hollywood records have signed them so keep an eye out for what’s in store (and in stores) next.

Surprise album of the year:
Jaime Jamgochian - Reason to Live

This album came out of left field when we first heard the buzz from Point of Grace about this great, new artist they had leading worship at their ‘Girls of Grace’ conferences. Although Jaime may have a hard to pronounce last name - pronounced ‘jam-go-shen’, this album is not hard to enjoy. It’s refreshing like a tall glass of cool, crystal clear water when you’re thirsty. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that some of the tracks just plain rock. No wonder her friends call her Jaime Jam, for short. If you like Chris Tomlin, check out Jaime’s ‘Reason To Live‘.

Blue Collar Rock album of the year:
Inhabited - The Revolution

Mark it down. You’ll look back at this band and wonder why when they played your community that you stayed home and didn’t go out to hear them! They are tireless road warriors - and they do it to reach people with a message of hope that is so desperately needed these days, especially among the youth. And besides, they can jam with the best of them. What is it about Texas and good ol rock bands that can jam? We like it.
