God’s love

Tuesday, February 14th, 2006

The New Testament uses three different Greek words for love. Eros refers to romantic love. Phileo refers to the deep loyalty and admiration you have for a close friend. But the highest form of love is called agape, which is the name for God’s love. Perhaps the best description of agape can be found in Luke, Chapter 15, in the story of the prodigal son.

Luke Chapter 15

Genuine love, agape love, has the power to reach out in forgiveness, respond to offense with generosity, and give of itself to restore others. The world today desperately needs to see agape love in action. Our society is obsessed with eros — but a truly forgiving and self-sacrificing love is rare indeed.

Watermark - ‘A Grateful People’

In stores March 14…

Watermark - 'A Grateful People'

“God’s beating heart,
Live through us!
Light of the world -
King Jesus”

“Nathan and I have loved every part of the Watermark journey… writing, recording, producing, leading worship, concerts, interviews, everything. However, this past year God has made it very clear that we can’t do it all. We want to be available to God and really just in a place of asking Him what is next. God is clearly calling us to close the Watermark chapter of our lives… With A Grateful People, we want to celebrate all that God has allowed us to accomplish through Watermark. Undoubtedly, the most cherished pieces of our journey are the people, and the rich community we’ve found on our path inspired the making of this new CD.” - Christy Nockels

This final album in the Watermark catalogue was recorded live at the couple’s home church. It’s a night of worship featuring special guests and Nockels’ friends Chris Tomlin, Point of Grace, Charlie Hall, Shane & Shane and Ed Cash.

MySpace.com warnings

This sobering news story came across the AP regarding popular sites such as myspace.com …

Teens Putting Themselves at Risk Online

Here are some things to keep in mind…

  1. What you write is similar to what is written in a newspaper or displayed on TV or other mass media. If you don’t want that info out there for everyone (good and bad) to potentially know about, don’t post it.
  2. Don’t advertise yourself. You don’t know who is on the other side of the monitor - reading, taking notes, and bookmarking your site. Predators can find this info just as easily as your friends that you know are reading it.
  3. Avoid personal info such as the details of where you live, schedules you keep, places you like to go. If your friends most likely already know this info, why are you posting it? Remember, the predators are out there and they’ll be looking for this info. Don’t make it easy for them.
  4. Remember 1, 2, and 3! While the internet is one of the most exciting and innovative creations ever - it’s also one of the most dangerous.
