We invite all members of our congregation to come to the Church Hall to watch the game and become friendlier with the Church. Many parishoners help prepare food for the event and we have seen a steady increase in participants. It has become a "family" event which we feel has been a factor in increasing our congregation. God works in mysterious ways. Regular services are scheduled as always, but for the past five years we have added a service. What my church usually does is have a regular service (albeit a little shorter) before the Super Bowl. Then, those who wish to do so separate into smaller groups (generally according to Sunday School department or age group), and go to someone's home to fellowship together during the game. What's been done in the past is, during halftime, each group has a speaker from FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) give their testimony or a devotion. It's a plan that has been pretty effective for our church. It allows for outreach (bringing the unchurched to the small groups) as well as inreach (Christian fellowship) without calling off services altogether. No, absolutely not. A couple of years ago it WAS on SB Sunday and attendance was way down.
