Incredible Christmas
Christmas is the most astounding fact in the history of the world. Nothing is so incredible, so amazing, as the historic event 2,000 years ago when the eternal, everlasting God came down to live in human flesh as a baby. Imagine. The Creator, the infinite, incomprehensible, ineffable God—the One who merely waved His hand and the Milky Way sprayed into existence—that One entered the world a helpless infant in a stable rich with the odor of cow dung and dirt. But what if He had not come?
…
If Christ had not come, we would not know the forgiveness of sins. God’s law is written on our hearts, and when we violate that law, we are whipped by the scorpion of guilt. It steals our peace, robs our sleep, and burns our heart. Without Christ, this gray cloud of guilt follows us wherever we go. A missionary to the Near East spoke at a Muslim university about Christ and salvation. Afterwards, nearly 100 students lined up to speak to him. Almost all of them had the same question. They didn’t want to debate the deity of Christ or His resurrection. No. They wanted to know how to get rid of the guilt that was driving them crazy. Only Christ can take it away. Have you experienced that relief from guilt, or do you know that you are still guilty? Does that thing you did still haunt your sleep? Only Christ can take it away and bring peace to your soul.
…if Christ had not come, we would have no hope beyond the grave. Our future would be evident as we gazed down into that six-foot hole. But Jesus Christ offers absolute certainty: “Because I live ye [that trust in me] shall live also (John 14:19 KJV).” What a magnificent promise. My friend, you can know God’s love, experience His purpose, know forgiveness and have the sure hope of Heaven in your heart. He offers you the gift of life abundant and eternal, freely bestowed to those who will place their trust in Him. If you have not already done so, turn to Him and discover for yourself the astonishing, incredible fact of Christmas.
