How do you connect with God?

Imagination

“I struggle, just like everyone else, with my devotional time. My pastor has been talking about the importance of waiting on the Lord ? having the discipline to wait five minutes or five hours. Lately in my time with God, I’ve been closing my door and maybe turning on a CD that wakes my heart up. I also try not to look at the Bible as something that is closed, dead or needs to be dissected. It’s made quiet times so much more like an adventure than a chore that I need to check off my list.” - Bethany Dillon

Introducing Vicky Beeching

Tuesday, November 8th, 2005

“Let me tell you about myself. I’m a worship leader from London, England. Previously I worked with Soul Survivor Ministries UK, leading worship alongside Tim Hughes and Matt Redman. Now, feeling that God has guided me to cross “The Pond” and come to the USA, I’m based in Nashville Tennessee and am getting ready for the release of my first album in December! So these days I’m either in the studio finishing up my new record, or on the road leading worship at Churches and Festivals. Hopefully I’ll get to meet each of you on my travels!” - Vicky

There’s a new Vicky Beeching website online - www.VickyBeeching.com - and her new CD “Yesterday, Today and Forever” is set to release on December 26th!

Not a normal day

Monday, November 7th, 2005

It was unusually warm for this time of year on Saturday. A friend and I made the drive to Evansville Indiana to do some shopping before the chaos that materializes after the Thanksgiving holiday. It certainly was unusual driving around in November with the windows down, feeling comfortable in short sleeves, seeing some people Christmas shopping in shorts. It all seemed like a pleasant surprise. There was a blue sky overhead, a steady breeze, and smiles on many faces as they enjoyed the unseasonable warmth. The day wound down and we made our way to the local Seeker’s coffee house on the southeast side of town. On our way out, we took a quick picture of the cafe. It was 8:40pm. We went back to the car. One of our friends is a local musician and was playing that evening from 10:30 to 2 am. We quickly thought about whether we wanted to stick around and catch some live music. We were getting tired from a long day and weren’t sure whether we should stay for a few more hours. I remember the exact moment I thought about what we should do. I felt a leaning to not change our plans, but to head on out of town and do that some other weekend. So we did. We drove back home to a surprisingly stiff head wind. We didn’t think much of it. I went to bed, got up and saw the shocking news that just a few miles south of where we had been, and a few hours after we had casually walked out of a cafe - a killer tornado had touched down and changed many communities and many people’s lives. I’m reminded once again of how we never know what a day may bring - and how short time is. Let’s make each day count.
