Hello,
I’m one of the filmmakers who followed Steve Vaught, aka, “The Fat Man Walking” for 13 months last year. Well, we’ve finally finished the film and are in talks with distributors. What’s most amazing to me is theire initial response “we’d like it have a happen ending, is there something you can do?” My response is, “this is what really happened, not like those scriptd Reality Shows,” but they just don’t seem to get it. We’ve had a couple of private screening, one in Dallas to a packed theater, and one in Hollywood. I flew Steve in for the Dallas screening, which by the way was the first time he had ever seen the film. I also decided not to tell the audience that Steve was present untill the film was over. The reaction was prettty amazing…. Even after a 2 hour Q&A, people still wanted to talk about the film. Hopefully, we’ll get distribution, so everyone can see it. Hi Steve,
I’m Kathy, I met you in Indiana on US 40 right after your interview at the Shell station in Greencastle In. I just want to say that I fully support you and admire you for your courage to stand up and make a change in your life, you could have so easily chose to stay in your own little world of depression, but you rose above that and decided to defeat the negatives in your life and make a change and by doing so you will strentghen as a person. I also,love the fact that you are truely genuine person, your not out for publicity or fame & fortune, you are doing this for you and I applaud you for that!!! You have inspired me to get off my own pity pot and start kicking some “negative butt”!!! Thank you and God Bless You, I will be praying for your safe journey to the Big Apple.

Steve, I could only hope to have the courage to do something so radical…I am over weight and have been for about five years, so it is a new thing for me to be fat…I am now on a plan and hope I can be as successful as you are being…Cudo,s to Steve and every other person with the same problem…Since most of the time the weight is more a mental thing than an eating thing in the beginning, lets all try to find a healing thing…PRAYER FOR ONE…the rest maybe can then, be figured out

Dear Steve,
Your testimony is awesome, and I know from the way you made your decisions that your endeavor is God - inspired, as He expresses the same values that you are expressing with your dedication to your own welfare and desire to bless your wife and children, as well as others who may be struggling (or need to be) with some problem related to self control. I know you will succeed, because I know what God says in His Word : He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it…Phil 1:6; and many,many more places in both the old and new testaments. Jesus also said in Matt.9:29: “according to your faith will it be done to you…”. I should tell you that I am not some kind of “religious nut”, but I do have a personal relationship with Jesus as He asks us to do, if we want to be led by God the Father, and be His adopted sons and daughters (Ephesians 1:5, Romans 8:28,29: John 3:3).
I’m sure there have been many times since you have started your Walk that you’ve felt discouraged, and there will probably be many more times that you feel that way; but take heart: Jesus said in 2nd Corinthians 12:7-10, that “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness”….,which you may take as both a promise and a challenge. You said in your “blog” that you finally got some books to keep you company— I hope one of them is the Word of God ; if not, talk to Jesus– His Father has more than enough to go around! (see 2nd Timothy3:16).
Finally, back to “self control”, which is defined in Galatians 5:22 as a fruit of the Holy Spirit; I hope we can
pray for each other for an increase in the harvest of this fruit in our lives, as it’s necessary in order for each of us to realize our Goals. I will share mine with you if you write back; raquizap@yahoo.com, or on your website.

you and your family should be extremely proud of you.Most people who are not over weight never mind extremely over weight can not even imagine in their worse nightmares how HARD it is for a heavy person to walk long distances never mind doing it every day plus not eating as much and not being in the comfort of you home with your family.

People love to see FAT people fail they love to make fun of us ,they look down at us,they love to hate us.
Unless your rich and famous they won’t knowledge what a wonderful thing or just how hard it has to be for you to be doing this.How many people could or would or be able to do what you have chosen to do.Be thin or over weigh,not many.

Steve good luck to you,safe travels,be proud very very proud even if something should happen and you don’t make it to the end You are a win already.

Hey all,

Let this man do what he wants. He is not leaving his family forever. He is trying to better himself and his family. I applaud him for what he is doing. Instead of beating up on this guy, why not try to support him. How many fathers and husbands in this country beat their familys,don’t work and don’t care about their familys, but noboby says anything. It is sad that people have negative comments about someone doing something positive. If you see him, say hi, give him water or some place to lay his head. I think its a great thing he is doing. What are all of you doing to better yourselves? Sitting in front of the computer or tv.

Steve, Greetings from Belgium.

You have to do what you have to do as long as you have the full surrport of your family - which appears that you do. Maybe this way you will lose the weight if not you will be a public ass of yourself and it also apperas that you don’t want that. May each and every step along your long path get easier. Good Luck..

Many times all we see of American is a lot of overweight people who are not try to change - so we at least know some wants to become fitter.
