Kelly Minter - Good Day

This CD is among the “Editor’s Picks” in the Sound and Spirit music club for this month. I have to agree with them. This CD has to be one of the most overlooked releases in recent memory. Kelly’s delivery and lyrics are straight-forward … and chock full of truth. Plus, the album was produced by Kenny Greenberg so you can be sure that it is chock full of awesome guitar as well.

I could easily remark that they are just as missing as the transitional forms in the fossil record as well, but I’ll refrain….oh wait!

Medical Care for Illegal Immigrants - U.S. Government Gets the Bill

U.S. to pay medical bills for illegal immigrants

Answers to certain issues just seem obvious… this is one of them.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services issued final guidance Monday that sets up a system for reimbursement. Lawmakers set aside $1 billion over four years for the program, created by Medicare legislation passed in 2003.

One billion dollars! Even over four years, that’s $250 million a year for a problem that could be alleviated - in large part - by stricter immigration policies and enforcement of those policies. First we give illegal immigrants our jobs, now we give them free insurance. All the while, people are complaining about the job market and health costs… go figure.

Still, I have to agree with the following:

One group that advocates stricter immigration policies said the government’s reimbursement of hospitals was the right thing to do.

“It seems to me that if the federal government has abdicated its responsibility for immigration enforcement, then it’s responsible for making those jurisdictions whole,” said Mark Krikorian, executive director of the Center for Immigration Studies, a think tank based in Washington.

The liberals have made our bed, I guess we better lie in it.
