Unfortunately, it appears that not everybody wants to get to the bottom of the Terri Schiavo case. It was disturbing enough when a judge and attorney talked about Terri as if she was nothing but a legal burden, a long overdue, tiresome process that for convenience sake, needed to be ended…

Who Needs A Superhero?: Finding Virtue, Vice, And What's Holy In The Comics

I just finished reading this story at the Baptist Standard on the parable elements in some comic book stories - from HellBoy to Superman.

“It’s not about super powers,” says Michael Brewer, lifelong comics fan and author of a new book about “finding virtue, vice and what’s holy” in comics, Who Needs a Superhero?

The article mentions the Green Arrow’s sidekick Mia who was once a teenage runaway. During her days on the street, she contracted HIV.

“Having faced the trouble in her life,” Brewer said, “she wants to make a difference in the world. I can’t think of a more heroic thing to do.”
