Quote of the week…
“It’s not about religion, it’s not about this church, it’s not about me. It’s about the book of life and everybody needs to be taught this. It’s crazy, it’s gonna do stuff like this, like change a guy in a rock band.”
- Brian “Head” Welch (Korn ex-guitarist - from a recent interview with MTV)

I wonder if this quote reflects some subtle but important differences between certain conservative Evangelicals and other Christians. For some It’s about the book” and for others, its about a person - Jesus. Subtle but important.

I think this relates more to …
Romans 10:14
How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?
After all, the Bible (or “Book of Life” as Brian called it) is where we read and learn about Jesus.

Yes, the Bible is where we read about Jesus. But is it the book or the man?

Vaughn,
You can’t separate God from His Word, and as John 1:1-14 tells us, the Word became flesh in Jesus.

So therefore, isn’t the Word Jesus himself, and not the book?

I’m not sure if I’m following the logic here. What evidence/reasons do we have for not taking God at His word? Jesus said that scripture cannot be broken (John 10:35) and that it will remain until heaven and earth as we know it passes away (Matthew 5:17-19).

Ya’ll are making this too complicated! Just love Jesus and love His word too. That’s the thing with some Christians. They think they know it all. Someone just got saved and is still trying to understand things. Let him be. Goodness sakes! This is the reason that people in general think that all Christians are hypocrites! Just mind your own business and let God do His work!
