75 Percent of the Population

Wednesday, February 2nd, 2005

Stumbled on this quote today, had to share it…

“USA Today has come out with a new survey: Apparently three out of four people make up 75 percent of the population.”
- David Letterman

David Letterman… my hero - you know, except for all that stupid stuff he says.

Study: MTV offers ‘incessant sleaze’ - MTV says Parents Television Council report unfair

>During one week last March, the watchdog Parents Television Council said it counted 3,056 flashes of nudity or sexual situations and 2,881 verbal references to sex.

That’s an average of 18 flashes of nudity or sexual situations and 17 verbal references to sex per hour.

How does MTV respond?

>MTV spokeswoman Jeannie Kedas said the network follows the same standards as broadcasters. MTV reflects the culture and what its viewers are interested in, she said. “It’s unfair and inaccurate to paint MTV with that brush of irresponsibility,” she said. “We think it’s underestimating young people’s intellect and level of sophistication.”

Post-Friday Freebie - Part Two

Tuesday, February 1st, 2005

Well, we’re a little late on the Friday Freebie again. But that’s okay. This one will make up for it!

Blender is an absolutely amazing program for animation, video, 3D Modelling, video compositing, video game design, raytracing… and well, everything except making toast.

I am absolutely astounded at the power of this program - and the fact that it is free and open source. I don’t think there’s enough space here to talk about even the major highlights of the program, so let me just say this: if you enjoy video, animation, graphic design, 3D modelling or anything remotely graphics oriented… Blender is an application you must have! Especially for those who are interested in animation and 3D modelling/compositing - it can do broadcast quality effects generation, and 3D animation.

Just go to the site and read about it. You won’t regret it. I’m currently using it to create 3D models to composite into a video I’m hoping to do for our Youth Ministry.

Warning: it’s not for the faint-hearted. It will take some time to get familiar with and use. But this tutorial series will make it much easier!
