Peterson’s mother breaks down on stand

“He’s an exceptional young man and he’s my son,” [Peterson’s mother] said. “I know he’s not perfect … but he is genuinely a loving, caring, nurturing, kind, gentle person.”

“The Scott I knew is a very gracious, caring person,” Reiman said.

He was also convicted for murdering his wife and unborn child and dumping them into the San Francisco Bay. I suppose it all depends on how you define “caring”.

Gorillas hold ‘wake’ for group’s leader

Yeah, and they hired a caterer too.

Bob Dylan: ‘I’m no prophet’

“In his first television interview in 19 years, the man whose song “Like a Rolling Stone” was recently named the greatest rock ‘n’ roll song of all time by Rolling Stone magazine…”

Go figure…

Dude — professor studies ‘dude’

A linguist from the University of Pittsburgh has published a scholarly paper deconstructing and deciphering the word “dude,” contending it is much more than a catchall for lazy, inarticulate surfers, skaters, slackers and teenagers.

You mean they give out degrees for this? Your tax dollars at work…

Supermodel Klum dishes pearls of wisdom

NEW YORK, (Reuters) — When supermodel Heidi Klum decided to write a book, she didn’t want it to be just a picture book. She wanted to offer some words of wisdom.

Of course the book, “Heidi Klum’s body of knowledge,” does have pictures — 400 of them to be precise, including a number of nude shots and plenty of the German temptress clad in the underwear brand that launched her on the way to super-stardom.

But that’s not the point of the book.

Riiiiiighht… and I’ll bet people buy it just for the advice and the catchy title…

U.S. to test missile defense system

Critics charge the technology is neither ready nor affordable, and say it fails to address the greater threat of weapons of mass destruction brought into the country by terrorists or other means.

Ahem… missile launched from another country - bad; missile blown up from within the country - bad. Who decides which threat is greater?

Martha Stewart inks TV deal

Both Lyne and Burnett, however, took pains to emphasize that Stewart has not been involved in the show’s development while in prison.

I’ll bet she’s working on a black-and-white striped table setting…

On the social significance of “dude”
If you don’t work in higher education, then sometimes the world of higher ed looks strange to outsiders. But then again, the world of corporate America looks strange to me as I am an outsider. So take, for example, the sorts of disparaging remarks tha…

No offense meant… I mean, I’ve been through college, and I’m still working on my Master’s degree in Theology. Frankly - I don’t care about the reasons (ahem, excuses) somebody might give - this is a virtually useless piece of information. And it’s a pretty good example of how members of “academia” are making a mockery of academics. I’ve been a part of corporate America and I feel like I’ve seen a good bit of “higher education” - and while a study on “dude” might be hip, it serves little useful purpose in my opinion. I don’t have any problem with the study… (actually, I think it’s kind of funny) I just don’t want my tax money used to support it.

Let me say this on Martha being in jail. How many people from Enron are in jail?? I am not sayin what she did was right or wrong but why are the people involved in Enron in jail as well??
Makes me think someone was out to get her.

  5. Scott Says:

Come on man. Marth Stewart? Have you watched her show? heard her voice? I’d be out to get her too!

Obviously I’m just kidding, but to be honest… I’m just glad somebody in the entertainment world is being held accountable for their actions. Of course, I wouldn’t call the prison time she’s doing “hard time”… more like an extended summer camp.

My point was that is sad that they picked on her. She had a tip on a stock and sold the shares. I am POSITIVE that is not the first time nor the last someone has sold stocks on a tip.
Lets see why not pick on the Enron big wigs.
Irregardless if one is in entertainment or not we all will be held accoutable for our actions.
