<description>Well, I can't offer any advice, but I can offer encouragement.

We are told to spread the Truth and to stand up and defend our beliefs, and God will give us the strength we need to do so. So, ideally, we are to tell others the Truth, point out where they're wrong, and we'll be OK when our friends and family abandon us. However, being human, it's rather difficult to take such a chance.

Being passive-agressive myself, I like to discuss religion by poking holes in the other persons statements and put forth my own beliefs as an antagonistic alternative viewpoint. Then, if the discussion gets too tense, I can back off and thank them for a lively discussion, letting them think that I was just playing devil's advocate and hoping that some of the ideas I presented will stew in their brains.

The trouble is that most people can't really discuss religion because they aren't comfortable enough with their own beliefs to be able to have them questioned. This makes people automatically defensive when the subject comes up; even before anyone questions them directly. So, you end up with a situation where people want to talk about religion, because we're all looking for answers, but no one wants to talk about religion, because no one wants to take the chance of finding out that everything they believe is wrong. Makes for an interesting world, though, eh? :)
