Banning the Bible?

This story really got a lot of people talking.

Republicans Admit Mailing Campaign Literature Saying Liberals Will Ban the Bible

It’s called childish, outrageous allegations by some…

- or the actions of Neanderthals by others…

- or maybe just mocked (oh no!) by the rest.

Do we think the enemy is going to be so bold and ignorant enough to try to get people to “ban the Bible?” No. Let’s not underestimate his intelligence and craftiness. What he’ll do is go a little bit at a time until the same goal is accomplished eventually. He’ll build up barriers - like a man-made separation of church and state doctrine, or he’ll attack the credibility of certain parts of God’s word (like those passages that deal with sexual sin). This is the nature of his deception. So we must understand how Satan works…so that we can be prepared and not fall for those traps as they will certainly be tried. When politicians stand up and declare, “So never fear, never fear that the Bible will be banned“…they should think twice.

    1. God says that we should not be too proud or sure of ourselves, lest we will stumble and fall.
    2. Maybe we should take a closer look at what is currently going on.

While the Bible is not being banned, maybe the enemy is already at work and well into his plan. I think it is not the best idea for conservatives to say that somebody or some group is for “banning the Bible.” That does not help clarify the situation any. What we should say, is that these groups are against the truth of the Bible and are pursuing ways of limiting religious freedom of Bible believers or simply that the groups or politicians are naive or uninformed and not doing anything to stop others from doing it. It speaks to the lack of spiritual discernment in our society when so many people seem oblivious to the culture war that is currently going on… and by culture war, we don’t mean a war in the general sense of the word, of course, but rather a battle over whether we obey God or man, whether truth is absolute or relative. Sure, the language of this GOP mailer may seem bizarre to some, but to those Christians that have been discerning or personally experiencing the hostility of this culture to Biblical truth…it is understood. By the way, the enemy is smart enough to see that as well. That’s why we see people react with such outrage when news stories such as this are broadcast. Isn’t it ironic that a mailer about how religious freedoms are under attack is seen as a threat by some who claim to fight for religious freedom?
