Kerry Plays Liberal Trump Card - Fear and Reasonless Conjecture
Bush, Kerry trade barbs on Iraq
Pennsylvania (AP) — President Bush challenged John Kerry’s credentials to be commander in chief Wednesday, saying the way to bring U.S. troops home from Iraq “is not to wilt or waver or send mixed signals to the enemy.” Kerry suggested that Bush, far from bringing American forces home, might instead bring back the military draft.
I’m fighting the urge to giggle and scream simultaneously. I find it really sad that many Americans are falling for this drivel. Kerry knows there is a latent fear in American culture towards the “Draft” and he’s playing on that fear. People ought to be offended, instead they’re falling prey to baseless conjecture designed to capitalize on their fear.
Answering a question about the draft at a forum with voters in West Palm Beach, Florida, Kerry said, “If George Bush were to be re-elected, given the way he has gone about this war and given his avoidance of responsibility in North Korea and Iran and other places, is it possible? I can’t tell you.”
Bad logic. Even if we assume that he has gone about the war poorly and avoided responsibility in North Korea an Iran - which would be a questionable assumption, at best - what does that have to do with the draft? How does Kerry’s implication of Bush’s avoidance of responsibility in North Korea and Iran support a greater likelihood of Bush reinstating the draft. The fact is, either Presidential Candidate might be forced to reinstate the draft if the American people are unwilling to step forward and fight for their country - which is an attitude promoted by Kerry’s negativity toward military action. Kerry is using baseless conjecture and fear tactics. Somebody alert me if he says anything that actually makes sense.
