Scientist Vies for Human Cloning License

…just another reminder that this cloning debate is relevant and necessary given the urgency that some scientists are pushing this forward.

…seems to be what the embryonic stem cell research proponents do best. They are at it again as this BreakPoint commentary points out.

I stumbled upon this quote by Frederick Douglass today:

“Find out just what people will submit to, and you have found out the exact
amount of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them; and these
will continue until they are resisted with either words or blows, or both. The
limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress.”

It is with great personal difficulty that I watch as our fundamental freedoms of speech, religion - and even life in the case of abortion and euthanasia - are politely whisked away from us at the whim of political and governmental authorities whose opinions are in the minority. I struggle even more with the fact that all this is done under the pretense of defense of those same fundamental freedoms.

Under the guise of health factors , the government upholds the abortion industry’s ability to take life by murder. In the name of Freedom of Religion, our government continues to uphold and mandate the removal of all traces of religion from the public arena. In the name of Freedom of Speech, pornography is spewed from nearly every media outlet in spite of the psychological damage it does to our children. Under the pretense of higher morality , immorality is condoned and sanctioned by the government in the form of homosexual marriage. In spite of the disapproval and outcry of the majority of the nation, the will of the minority is enforced to promote equality. Humanitarian action in the form of war against evil terrorists is condemned while cowardice and abandonment of innocent people to oppressive and violent regimes is considered humane.

While I’m sure many would love to turn Douglass’ words back on me as supportive of special homosexual rights. I would ask those who would suggest such things to consider whether Douglass’ himself would have supported homosexuality. I think given his religious nature and the times during which he lived, the answer could only be no. I would reiterate that homosexuals are neither fighting against slavery nor fighting for their basic human rights - they are fighting for special privilege. And I would not hesitate to remind those same people of the absolute condemnation that Douglass would direct in the faces of those who would steal those same rights - as well as the very life - of unborn children.

I find Douglass’ words rather prophetic. Douglass was an abolitionist and ex-slave - knowing the truth of that which he spoke. His words should be a warning to us. Right now we have the chance to resist with words the tyrants who would force their will and morality on us. Let us speak now, lest someday we be left no other option but to resist with blows.

Florida court strikes down ‘Terri’s Law’

Well, it appears that the Supreme Court again implicitly asserts that the Judicial Branch of the Government can trump the Legislative and Executive branch. The Florida Supreme Court has stated that “Terri’s Law” - passed by the Florida State Legislature…

was unconstitutional. Thursday’s decision said the law violated the fundamental separation of powers between the executive and legislative branches.

I would assume that the irony in that statement isn’t missed by many. Since when has the Supreme Court exhibited any concern over the separation of power between the different branches of Government. In truth, they’ve been completely ignoring that separation to make their own rules and laws for quite a while now. To me, that statement is the ultimate in hypocrisy.

It’s helpful to know that - based on one man’s word, supported by no additional documentation - we can now starve a person to death. Seems it would be more humane to give her a lethal injection… but that would be considered murder. Does anyone else see any problem with the logic in this? Note to self: never move to Florida.
