The new Something Like Silas album ‘Divine Invitation‘ was released today!

Something Like Silas

Here’s what the critics are saying…

Divine Invitation is a breath of fresh air among an avalanche of stale worship acts. The five-piece band cut its teeth in front of a live audience, as it serves as the worship band at its local church. Straight out of San Diego, Something Like Silas crafts alterna-worship along the lines of Delirious and The Benjamin Gate, while frontman Eric M. Owyoungs earnest voice carries the same intensity as San Diego neighbor and Switchfoot frontman Jon Foremans. Seven Ball

Its good to hear rock and roll again. In a time where modern worship has a decidedly pop leaning, West Coast band Something Like Silas brings us straight up rock and roll in all of the varied forms that the art form has integrated into itself in the last decadeSomething Like Silas brings something unique to the ministry of worship a worship that is, in a sense, naked, fully unafraid of lyrics that haunt and inspire, often at the same time…Ive never heard a worship record that so wisely and powerfully incorporates the dark somber times of faith into life-altering praise. Its obvious that the band has the technical skills, but also an anointing to bring healing to souls longing for God. worshipnotes.org

Shouldn’t we all just get along?

Southern Baptists Quit World Alliance

“Our concern is not financial,” said the Rev. Denton Lotz, general secretary of the world alliance. “Our concern is schism and division. Christians need to be a united voice.”

Contrary to the trend in the church these days, when given the opportunity between heresy and schism, always choose schism. We don’t have to ‘all get along‘ if that means we sacrifice the truth in the process. Without truth, where are we? We are no longer the church, but a man-made social club.

This is a time in history where the church needs to lead with the boldness of knowing that God’s Word is true and necessary to address the needs of the individual human soul and the culture as a whole.
