RED PILL: BLUE PILL
Friday, June 11th, 2004We are a drug nation.
When Chad Taylor noticed his son was apparently experiencing serious side effects from Ritalin prescribed for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, he decided to take the boy off the medication. Now, he says he may be accused of child abuse.
If you don’t give your kids drugs, you may go to jail
A concerned father notices multiple side effects on his son that he suspects are due to Ritalin. He takes his son off Ritalin.
The son gets better, but is now disruptive in class.
The result:
The teachers call the New Mexico Department of Youth, Child, Family Services.
Drugs are becoming the easy out for our societies ills. Is there anything we can’t make a pill for now? Are you nervous is a crowd? Take the yellow pill. Are you constipated? Take the red pill. Are you having ‘intimacy’ problems? Take the blue pill. Is your kid ‘driving you nuts’? Give him an amphetamine.
Here’s the big question:
Why are we all so unhappy?
Why can we not cope with reality?
I thought the ’sexual revolution’ was supposed to free us from all guilt and concern. I thought the self help pundits were supposed to make us feel better about ourselves. We have more time saving devices than any other society in the world, yet we seem to have less time for our fellow man than ever.
