The theology of Rosie O’Donnell

O’Donnell announced her wedding plans on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” just two days after President Bush called for a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage.

“I think the actions of the president are, in my opinion, the most vile and hateful words ever spoken by a sitting president,” O’Donnell said on the program. “I am stunned and I’m horrified.

“I find this proposed amendment very, very, very, very shocking. And immoral. And, you know, if civil disobedience is the way to go about change, then I think a lot of people will be going to San Francisco. And I hope they put more people on the steps to marry as many people as show up. And I hope everyone shows up.”

By reading these statements by Rosie O’Donnell, it is obvious that she is strongly opposed to President Bush’s belief on this matter. He is a Christian and it is logical to say he is guided by his faith in God and belief in the Bible as truth and God’s word to mankind.

Now the world and the culture say otherwise. Unfortunately it looks like Rosie has fell into that snare. That is to say that homosexuality is something that we are born with and not a lifestyle choice. In doing so, she is saying that she doesn’t believe the Bible and its clear statements on this behavior as sin. She doesn’t believe that there is a loving God that gave to us His word, that states for us the way we should live our lives, not out of a desire to dictate to us, but because He knows and desires what is best for us…for He created us. She doesn’t believe in a God that gave to us life and gives us the opportunity for eternal life with Him through faith in His son Jesus Christ. In doing so, she doesn’t believe that God wants a relationship with each one of us personally.

Rosie may be ’stunned and horrified’ by the beliefs of President Bush and others, but is God disappointed and saddened when we reject Him and live our lives in disobedience to Him and His word? I say that not just to Rosie, but to myself as well. I must remember the goodness of God and the gift of His son Jesus to bring us back into a right relationship with Him . I must remember that incredible sacrifice and strive to not let sin and the culture come between Him and me.
